Gopro Hero 3 Download To Mac

When I first got a GoPro, I read recommendations not to connect the camera to my Mac. The concern was that playback from the camera through USB would be choppy and not smooth. Also some suggested the Mac would leave invisible files on the memory card that might interfere with the operation of the camera. Another suggestion was to always do updates manually. So my memory card adapters all are set to read only when copying files and I've always used a card reader, except a recent Lexar card purchase which has it's own USB adapter. So I don't know if the camera will connect or not, I've never tried; but I would guess the camera will not connect up with Mavericks 10.9 operating system either. I guess because I had an inexpensive card reader for the various types and sizes of memory cards around the house for other cameras, printer-scanners, etc, using a card reader was the easiest way to get GoPro images and videos into my computers without installing a second operating system in my daily-use laptops.

I want to just connect my new gopro session to my mac using USB, which should be quick and easy, plug and play etc. However, when I connect them via USB, the go pro chages but the mac cannot see it, so I cannot import files into Gopro studio.
